For anybody that loves animals and wants to do right by them, please help the Capital Area Humane Society by donating to the 2011 Run/Walk for the Animals. This event takes place in September and is sure to be a heck of a lot of fun; a doggie-kissing-booth, pancake flipping, lots of animals and best of all, a chance to help our shelter animals! Please click the link below to donate now! I thank you, and the animals thank you so, so much for giving them a second chance as well as providing essentials every day! http://cahs-lansing.donorpages.com/Walk2011/jesper623

So this week is definitely proving to be quite the challenge. It’s interesting how things seem to come and go in a cycle. Sitting the fence on the life I once had vs. the life I think I want, yet numerous events and temptations seem to keep pulling me back in and with significant strength. I’m used to being tested and challenged…I guess it helps to keep me spry. However, I have found myself entertaining the question if all of this is what I REALLY want my life to read once it’s all said and done, a heck of a lot the past few days and that I do not like. I need to remember why I started this new path and cling to it with all of my might for I know that this will be what saves my … Continue reading →

Every day I check my facebook newsfeed, the CAHS posts recent adoptions. Normally, I would be really excited to see all the animals that are adopted out, just because that kind of news is always heartwarming. However, now that I have contact with these animals a couple of times a week, I find myself cheering them on when I read that they recently were lucky enough to find their forever homes. Deep down inside, I feel a sense of accomplishment for having been a part of these little guys’ (and girls’) journeys. It’s quite the mood booster, I must say, and I could not be happier to be even a small part of it!

This is one very happy and satisfied girl today! Last week I was a little sad because an owner surrender came in, named Baby. He was HUGE but just a lover. His family gave him up because they didn’t know beforehand that his breed typically gets between 85-100+lbs and they could no longer take care of him. Well this morning, I found out that among many successful adoptions, Baby not only found his forever family within the first day of his availability, but he also got a new buddy, a Rottweiler that reportedly was larger than Baby! Totally awesome and one of the best feelings ever!
